U.S. Representative Grace Meng, who has represented New York’s 6th district in Congress since 2013, posted a series of updates on November 13, 2025, addressing recent legislative developments, labor issues, and community events.
On the evening of November 13, Meng criticized the government funding bill under consideration in the House. She stated, “The bill to fund the government on the House floor this evening wasn’t a ‘deal.’ It does absolutely nothing to address rising health care costs. Nor does it do anything to help families make ends meet. I voted NO for the thousands of families in Queens & millions more across the” (posted November 13, 2025).
Later that day, Meng expressed support for Starbucks workers seeking their first contract. She wrote, “I’m standing in solidarity with @SBWorkersUnited as they fight for their first contract. After more than four years, it’s time for Starbucks to bargain in good faith and reach the agreement their workers deserve.” (posted November 13, 2025).
In a separate post about local community engagement, Meng announced an upcoming fire safety event: “FDNY Fire Safety Event: 11/15 I’m partnering with @LiuNewYork & @FDNY to host a Fire Safety Event on Saturday, November 15, 11:30am – 1:00pm, at Taipei Economic Cultural Office in Flushing! Stop by to learn more about fire safety & prevention, lithium battery usage, safe escape” (posted November 13, 2025).
Meng has been active in both national and local issues since taking office in Congress after replacing Gary Ackerman in 2013. Prior to her tenure in Congress representing New York’s 6th District—which includes parts of Queens—she served in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Born and raised in New York City and currently residing in Queens herself at age 47, Meng holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Yeshiva University.
