Grace Meng, U.S. Congresswoman representing New York’s 6th district since 2013, recently addressed issues ranging from federal spending to local infrastructure upgrades in a series of posts on her official Twitter account.
On July 22, Meng criticized recent fiscal policy decisions, stating, “There’s nothing beautiful about adding $3.4 TRILLION to the national debt while taking away health care & food assistance from millions of Americans.”
The following day, she commented on legislative actions by GOP leadership: “Instead of working to pass legislation to make life more affordable for hardworking families, GOP leadership canceled votes so they wouldn’t have to address Jeffrey Epstein. They are protecting elites at the expense of working people.” This post was made on July 23.
Later that same day, Meng highlighted progress in public transit accessibility within Queens: “I’ve been fighting to improve accessibility at our public transit stations throughout Queens for years & I’m glad to see that elevators are finally coming to our community! Upgrades at the 63rd Drive-Rego Park Station and Grand Avenue-Newtown Station in Elmhurst will make life”
Meng has represented New York’s 6th District in Congress since replacing Gary Ackerman in 2013. She previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Born and raised in New York City and currently residing in Queens, Meng holds a BA from the University of Michigan and a JD from Yeshiva University.
