Grace Meng, U.S. Congresswoman representing New York’s 6th district and Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science, posted a series of updates on January 8, 2026, highlighting her support for a bipartisan funding bill and extending congratulations to retiring Congressman Steny Hoyer.

In her first post of the day, Meng wrote: “After more than 40 years in Congress, serving as our Democratic Majority Leader and Whip, I’m sending a warm congratulations to @RepStenyHoyer as he announces his retirement. A lifelong public servant, Steny has always been a steady and principled leader. It has been an honor to https://t.co/2WAoC15sTQ” (January 8, 2026).

Later that afternoon, Meng commented on legislative activity: “As Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science, I’m proud to support the bipartisan funding bill we are voting on today. She concluded with another update: “My full statement on the passage of the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill https://t.co/3rD9sXfWCS” (January 8, 2026).

Meng has represented New York’s 6th District in Congress since replacing Gary Ackerman in 2013. Prior to her tenure in Congress she served in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Born in New York City in 1975 and currently residing in Queens at age 47, Meng is an alumna of the University of Michigan (BA) and Yeshiva University (JD).
