U.S. Representative Grace Meng, who has represented New York’s 6th district in Congress since 2013 and resides in Queens, marked Black History Month and commented on national and international issues through a series of posts on February 24, 2026.

In her first post of the day, Meng wrote: “During Black History Month we honor the generations of leaders, organizers, artists, and everyday people who have shaped our nation. In Queens, we’re proud to celebrate that legacy through stories rooted in our own neighborhoods—like the Lewis H. Latimer House in Flushing, which https://t.co/CH14ZWbVTh” (February 24, 2026).

Later that evening, she addressed the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine: “Four years ago, Russia launched its unprovoked, illegal war against Ukraine. Russia thought Kyiv would fall in hours. It still stands. Ukraine stands. The Ukrainian people stand. Today, Putin’s assaults, atrocities, and war crimes continue, especially against women and girls.” (February 24, 2026).

In a subsequent post about the State of the Union address scheduled for that night before Congress, Meng commented on economic challenges faced by Americans: “Tonight the President will give his State of the Union address before Congress. No matter what the President says tonight, Americans know exactly how hard this past year has been. Prices for groceries, utilities, and health care keep going up, while Republicans slash Medicaid” (February 24, 2026).

Grace Meng was born in New York City in 1975 and has lived most of her life in Queens. Before serving in Congress beginning in 2013—succeeding Gary Ackerman—she was a member of the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. She holds a BA from the University of Michigan (1997) and a JD from Yeshiva University (2002).
