Grace Meng, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 6th district, has been actively communicating her legislative efforts and community engagement through social media. Her recent posts highlight initiatives aimed at improving local infrastructure, advocating for changes in federal assistance programs, and celebrating educational achievements.

On July 9, 2025, Meng expressed her commitment to securing federal funding for local infrastructure projects. She stated, “I’m fighting to deliver $2 million in federal funding to repair the Maspeth firehouse. @FDNY’s Squad 288 and HazMat 1 keep our community safe & updates to their house are long-overdue.” She emphasized her dedication to advancing this crucial funding through Congress.

Later that day, Meng addressed a policy issue regarding food assistance programs. In her post on July 9, she remarked on the limitations of SNAP benefits by stating, “It makes no sense that people who rely on SNAP can’t use their benefits to buy a hot meal, but they CAN buy the same thing frozen.” She introduced her proposed legislation named the Hot Foods Act intended to amend this rule.

The following day, July 10, Meng took a moment to acknowledge educational milestones within her constituency. She congratulated graduates of the class of 2025 with an invitation for celebration: “Congrats, 2025 Grads! My team & I are celebrating K-12 graduates of the class of 2025.” This initiative encourages graduates to register for a certificate and join in celebratory events.

Grace Meng has served in Congress since replacing Gary Ackerman in 2013 after serving in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Born in New York City in 1975 and residing in Queens, she holds degrees from both the University of Michigan and Yeshiva University.
