Grace Meng, U.S. Congresswoman representing New York’s 6th district since 2013, addressed several issues on her social media accounts this week, including a recent tragedy in Texas, an upcoming VA intake day event in Queens, and concerns about the expiration of ACA tax credits.
On September 24, Meng commented on recent events in Texas: “Heartbreaking news in Texas this morning. My thoughts are with the victims, their families, & all who are impacted. This senseless violence needs to stop.” (September 24, 2025).
Later that same day, she reminded constituents about a local event aimed at assisting veterans: “REMINDER: VA Intake Day
My team and I are hosting a VA intake day Thursday, September 25, 10am-2pm, at St. Sebastian’s Post #870 Catholic War Veterans! Representatives from the @DeptVetAffairs will be available to assist with VA claims & answer questions about your VA” (September 24, 2025).
The following day, Meng raised concerns regarding health insurance costs if certain federal subsidies expire: “If ACA tax credits expire, families in Queens could pay thousands more for their health insurance. For a family of four earning $64,000 a year, their annual premiums could increase by nearly $2,000. For a 60-year-old couple earning $82,800 a year…” (September 25, 2025).
Meng has represented New York’s 6th District since replacing Gary Ackerman in Congress in 2013 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. She was born and raised in New York City and currently resides in Queens. Meng holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Yeshiva University.
