U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng, who represents New York’s 6th district, recently shared updates on community events and federal policy changes through a series of posts on her official social media account.
On August 19, 2025, Meng highlighted the reopening of a local business in Maspeth: “Always a delicious slice at Rosa’s Pizza in Maspeth! I was thrilled to recently commemorate its grand reopening and 50th anniversary. It is such an institution in the community and one of my favorite pizza places. Congratulations to its entire team.”
Later that day, she informed constituents about upcoming changes to federal benefit payments: “ATTENTION: The Federal Government will stop sending paper checks for social security, veterans, and other government benefits starting on Sept 30. If you have not set up electronic payment yet, you have until the end of September to do so. Learn more below “ This announcement follows ongoing efforts by federal agencies to transition beneficiaries to electronic payments for improved efficiency and security.
On August 20, Meng addressed staffing shortages within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA): “Now we know the truth: 41 roles across the VA are severely understaffed, the highest since 2018. The Administration’s attacks on veterans & the VA have led to decreased access, choice, and care. We should be strengthening the VA and expanding care, not slashing critical staff.”
Meng has served as U.S. Representative for New York’s 6th District since 2013 after succeeding Gary Ackerman. She previously held office in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Born in Queens in 1975 and currently residing there, Meng holds degrees from both the University of Michigan (BA) and Yeshiva University (JD).
