U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng, who represents New York’s 6th district, posted a series of messages on January 8, 2026, addressing local and international issues including condolences for a city worker’s passing, vaccine safety, and support for protesters in Iran.
In her first post at 14:12 UTC, Meng expressed sympathy following the death of a sanitation worker: “I am saddened to hear of the sudden passing of sanitation worker Brian Dunn. His dedicated service to our city will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones and I am praying for them during this difficult time.”
Later that day at 15:10 UTC, she addressed public health concerns regarding vaccines by stating: “We’ve all heard it before, but I’ll say it again: vaccines are safe, effective, and proven to save millions of children from terrible diseases. Undermining this and other proven cures puts families at risk for no reason.”
At 17:57 UTC on the same day, Meng turned attention to international affairs with a statement supporting Iranian citizens’ rights: “I stand with the people of Iran and will continue to support their right to peacefully protest the regime’s unjust policies.”
Grace Meng has served as U.S. Representative for New York’s 6th District since 2013 after succeeding Gary Ackerman. She previously held office in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Born in New York City in 1975 and currently residing in Queens, Meng is an alumna of the University of Michigan (BA) and Yeshiva University (JD).
