U.S. Representative Grace Meng, who serves New York’s 6th district, posted a series of tweets on August 18 and 19, 2025 addressing local flooding in Queens, international disaster relief for Pakistan, and concerns about NASA’s budget.

On August 18, Meng described her efforts to address recent flooding in Queens by meeting with city officials. She wrote: “Meeting with @NYCWater Commissioner Rohit Aggarwala at my Northeast Queens office following last month’s flooding in our borough. Our communities need relief, and I will continue working with him and his staff to help combat floods that impact Queens during storms and heavy https://t.co/osEvzgS5Rr”.

Later the same day, Meng expressed condolences regarding deadly flooding abroad. In a tweet posted at 16:30 UTC she stated: “I am heartbroken by the deadly flooding in Pakistan. My thoughts are with the all the victims and their families as communities experience the devastating aftermath of this disaster.

My team and I stand ready to help any constituents that may have been impacted.”

The following day, Meng addressed issues related to NASA’s funding and leadership uncertainty. On August 19 she tweeted: “I am extremely concerned about uncertainty with NASA’s budget and leadership. Many Republicans also share my concerns.

I will keep up the fight for a fair budget so that the agency can continue the crucial work it does.

Grace Meng has represented New York’s 6th District in Congress since replacing Gary Ackerman in 2013. Prior to her congressional service, she was a member of the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Born in New York City in 1975, Meng resides in Queens and holds degrees from both the University of Michigan (BA) and Yeshiva University (JD).
