Grace Meng, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 6th district since 2013, has been vocal on various issues affecting her constituents in Queens through social media. Her recent posts address the challenges faced by small businesses, celebrate LGBTQ+ pride, and condemn acts of antisemitism.
On June 1, 2025, Meng emphasized the significance of small businesses in Queens as “the backbone of our local economy.” She attended the Korean Small Business Roundtable organized by the Asian American Federation and listened to business owners discuss “the impact the President’s tariffs & policies are having on them & the community.”
Celebrating Pride Month on June 2, 2025, Meng expressed her support for the LGBTQ+ community in Queens. She highlighted their “pride & resilience” while acknowledging ongoing injustices they face. Meng pledged to remain an ally in advocating for equality and justice: “There is still a lot of work ahead of us.”
In response to an attack in Boulder coinciding with Shavout on June 2, 2025, Meng voiced her horror at such violence. She condemned antisemitism and extended solidarity to those affected: “We must continue to condemn antisemitism in all its forms.”
Meng has served as a representative since succeeding Gary Ackerman in 2013. Born in New York City in 1975 and residing in Queens, she holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Yeshiva University.
