Grace Meng addresses intolerance, celebrates sports milestone, and discusses food dye ban

U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng, who represents New York’s 6th district and resides in Queens, addressed issues ranging from hate crimes to public health and sports in a series of recent posts on social media.

On August 14, 2025, Meng responded to an incident she described as bigotry, writing: “Another disgusting act of bigotry and intolerance. These types of despicable crimes are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. There is no place for hate! https://t.co/JH3KwsDwU1“.

The following evening, Meng celebrated a local sports achievement, posting: “Congratulations to Pete Alonso! Wonderful celebration this evening honoring the new all-time home run leader of my home borough team. #LGM https://t.co/MhmEuNXN9V” on August 15, 2025.

Later that day, Meng highlighted her legislative work regarding food safety: “Last year, I helped lead an effort to ban Red Dye 3, an artificial food dye proven harmful.

I’m thankful that the FDA decided to ban it and it’s great to see more states taking action on this bipartisan issue. We must do more to stand up for the health and safety of American” (August 15, 2025).

Meng has served in Congress since replacing Gary Ackerman in 2013 after previously serving in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. She was born in New York City in 1975 and currently lives in Queens. Her educational background includes a BA from the University of Michigan (1997) and a JD from Yeshiva University (2002).
