Grace Meng, U.S. Congresswoman representing New York’s 6th district since 2013, addressed several issues on her Twitter account on July 22, 2025, including a military plane crash in Bangladesh, improvements to local infrastructure in Queens, and concerns about government spending.
On July 22, Meng expressed condolences following a tragic incident overseas: “I am devastated by the deadly military plane crash in Dhaka, Bangladesh. My heart is with the victims & all who are impacted, especially parents who have tragically lost their children. As a mom of two, I can only imagine the heartbreak they are experiencing. I am grateful for” (posted at 00:49 UTC).
Later that day, she celebrated progress on accessibility at a local post office: “I’ve been fighting for a ramp at the Jackson Heights Post Office for years. Now that construction is complete, it’s finally ADA accessible & easy to navigate for families with strollers. A special thank you to @CMShekarK & @RepAOC who helped make this happen.” (posted at 01:43 UTC).
In another post on July 22, Meng raised concerns regarding government spending: “This looks a lot like waste, fraud, & abuse to me… The Administration must reverse this decision to save lives & taxpayer dollars.” (posted at 14:09 UTC).
Meng has represented New York’s 6th District in Congress since replacing Gary Ackerman in 2013 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. She was born in New York City in 1975 and currently resides in Queens. Meng graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA and later earned her JD from Yeshiva University.
