Dr. Garth Garramone, a gastroenterologist with over two decades of experience, has joined St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam, New York. This move is part of the hospital’s strategic efforts to expand its services amidst growing demand for gastrointestinal care.

“Dr. Garramone will be instrumental in re-energizing and expanding our gastroenterology services at a time of increasing demand for GI care and fierce competition for GI specialists,” stated Jeff Methven, President and CEO of St. Mary’s.

Methven credits the hospital’s recruitment success to its supportive work culture and community-focused environment. St. Mary’s was recently recognized as a Top Workplace in the Capital Region.

Dr. Garramone expressed enthusiasm about returning to Upstate New York, where he previously attended college at Syracuse University’s Utica campus and worked with Digestive Disease Medicine of Central New York and Mohawk Valley Endoscopy. His recent role was as medical director of gastroenterology at CarolinaEast Health System in North Carolina.

He holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Maine, completed his residency at UMass Chan Medical School, and a fellowship at Nassau University Medical Center affiliated with Stony Brook Medical School.

Board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, Dr. Garramone is also affiliated with several professional organizations including the American College of Physicians and the American Gastroenterology Association.

His office is situated in the St. Mary’s Medical Office Building on Guy Park Avenue Campus, welcoming new patients by appointment through 518-843-1240.

St. Mary’s Healthcare has been serving Montgomery and Fulton counties since 1903, offering essential healthcare services across various locations.
