A leading gastroenterologist, Galen Leung, MD, has been appointed chief of advanced endoscopy at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island. Dr. Leung is recognized for his expertise in innovative techniques that assist in diagnosing and treating early-stage cancers in the digestive tract.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Leung lead our endoscopy team. He brings a vast amount of clinical expertise in treating complex cases with the use of the latest technology,” said Joseph J. Greco, MD, executive vice president and chief of hospital operations at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island.
Dr. Leung specializes in third space, or intramural, endoscopy for managing pancreaticobiliary diseases and gastrointestinal malignancies.
“I look forward to this new and exciting opportunity to lead a world-class group of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and support staff to ensure that our patients receive the highest-quality endoscopic care,” said Dr. Leung.
Before joining NYU Langone, Dr. Leung was an assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania and directed endoscopy continuous quality improvement there. His education includes a medical degree from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and various fellowships completed at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
