St. John’s University pitcher Evan Chaffee has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, according to an announcement from the conference office on Monday.
Chaffee, a redshirt junior, pitched 6.2 innings in the second game of a three-game series against No. 22 Kentucky Wildcats baseball. He struck out four batters and allowed just one earned run on 93 pitches, finishing with a 1.35 ERA for that appearance.
So far this season, Chaffee has started three games and thrown 16.1 innings over ten games for St. John’s. He leads the pitching staff with 12 strikeouts and holds opposing hitters to a .266 batting average.
This is Chaffee’s first weekly honor from the BIG EAST this year. He is also the second player from St. John’s to receive league recognition this season, following teammate Jon LeGrande.
Chaffee and his team are set to play a two-game road series at Penn State starting Tuesday, March 3, with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on B1G+.
