Columbia University first-year student Emily Zeng was named Ivy League Women’s Golfer of the Month for March, according to an announcement by the league office on Apr. 7. This is both Zeng’s and Columbia women’s golf program’s first time receiving this honor since the award began in fall 2024.

Zeng, a rookie from Beijing, secured her first collegiate win at only her second tournament by taking first place at the More Than Golf Invitational held from March 1-3. She finished with a score of one-under-par 218, posting rounds of 71, 78, and a final-round four-under-par 69 to edge out teammate Kristina Xu for the title. Zeng was also the only player in that event to finish under par.

Her performance contributed significantly to Columbia’s team victory—their first since 2016. The Lions entered the final round trailing Tulsa and Denver by one shot but posted their best team round of three-under-par 289 to surpass Tulsa by ten strokes and secure the championship.

During March, Zeng recorded a stroke average of 74.17. Heading into the ECU Ironwood Invitational (April 5-7), she maintained a spring season stroke average of 73.56.

The Lions completed play at ECU Ironwood Invitational today and are now preparing for the upcoming Ivy League Championship scheduled for April 24-26 at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey.
