Columbia University’s wrestling team will close out its 2025 competition schedule with two dual matches on Sunday in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. The Lions are set to face Clarion at 2 p.m., followed by a match against host Rider at 4 p.m.

The matchup against Rider will be streamed live on ESPN+, and fans can follow live results through TrackWrestling.

In their most recent competition, the Lions participated in the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite, where four wrestlers earned placements. Lorenzo Frezza finished fourth, Cesar Alvan took fifth at 165 pounds, while Sulayman Bah and Aaron Ayzerov each secured eighth place finishes in their respective weight classes. As a team, Columbia ranked 14th overall with 48 points.

The projected lineup for Sunday’s duals includes Sulayman Bah or Connor Smith at 125 pounds; Evin Gursoy at 133; either Lorenzo Frezza or Roman Lermer at 141; Richard Fedalen or Marco Frinzi at 149; Charles Scanlan at 157; Cesar Alvan at 165; Nick Fine or Oliver Howard at 174; Aaron Ayzerov or Joe Curtis at 184; Adam Haselius or Jack Wehmeyer at 197; and Vincent Mueller competing in the heavyweight division.

Columbia currently has four athletes ranked among the top-30 nationally according to Intermat and FloWrestling. “Frezza took the biggest jump, climbing up to No. 21 from 26th. Alvan held strong at No. 23. Nick Fine checks in at No. 31, while Ayzerov remains in the top-20 at No. 16.”

Clarion enters Sunday’s contest having competed in only one dual so far this season—a conference loss to Lock Haven on December 5—highlighted by Joey Fischer’s win over then-ranked Gable Strickland. This will be the fifth meeting between Columbia and Clarion since their series began in 2008, with Clarion leading all-time by three wins to one. Their last encounter was a Columbia victory (25-14) during a tri-meet hosted by LIU on January 7, 2018.

Rider holds a record of one win and three losses entering this weekend’s matches—all defeats coming against teams ranked within the national top-25. In their last outing, Rider fell to No.20 Oklahoma (26-15). Columbia leads the all-time series with Rider four games to two since first meeting in December of 2004, though they have not faced off since December of 2017 when Rider won decisively.
