The Columbia women’s soccer team is set to play two matches this weekend in New York City. The Lions will face St. John’s in Queens on Thursday at 7 p.m., followed by a home game against La Salle at Commisso Stadium on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Both games will be available for viewing on ESPN+, with live statistics provided through statbroadcast and gocolumbialions.com. Fans can also follow @CULionsWSOC on X and Instagram for real-time updates.

In their previous match, Columbia played Loyola Marymount University in California, where they were defeated 2-1. Krystal Medina scored her first career goal in the sixth minute to give Columbia an early lead, but LMU equalized in the 55th minute through Callan Harrington and secured the win with a goal from Taylor Person in the 68th minute.

St. John’s enters the weekend with a record of 2-1-1 for the season so far. Their most recent result was a 1-1 draw against Syracuse, with freshman forward Ava Martinez scoring an equalizer in the 72nd minute. Last season, St. John’s finished with a 10-6-3 overall record and reached the BIG EAST tournament quarterfinals under head coach Ian Stone, who is now leading his 31st season. Senior midfielder Brooke Boyd received preseason All-BIG EAST honors after tallying five goals and six assists last year. Junior striker Emma Blake has scored ten career goals, while senior defender Kayla O’Rourke leads their defense.

La Salle has started its season with one win and two losses, earning its first victory by shutting out Rider 3-0 last weekend. Senior forward Madison Carter scored twice in that match and was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week. In the previous season, La Salle posted an overall record of 8-7-4 but missed qualifying for the Atlantic 10 tournament under long-time head coach Paul Royal. The team features attacking players Carter, junior winger Sofia Delgado, and sophomore midfielder Katie Fleming; together they contributed twelve goals and eleven assists last fall. Senior goalkeeper Rachel Stone returns after making seventy-three saves and recording four shutouts last year.

Carter currently leads La Salle’s scoring this fall with two goals; Delgado has added one as new players continue to gain experience early in non-conference play.

Columbia will stay local next week with an away match scheduled at Fordham on Thursday at 7 p.m., continuing their regular season schedule.
