Columbia women’s basketball team is set to participate in the 2025 Cancun Challenge. The event will take place during Thanksgiving Week at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Mexico. Columbia will compete in the four-team Mayan Tournament alongside Kansas State, North Carolina, and South Dakota State. All teams involved have recently participated in NCAA Tournaments.

The tournament is scheduled from November 27 to 29 and will follow a round-robin format with three games. Specific matchups for the opening round are yet to be announced.

“Big Adds to the 2025 Women’s Cancun Challenge! We’re turning up the heat in paradise as @SpiderWBBall, @CULionsWBB, and @uncwbb join the growing field for this year’s #CancunChallenge!” stated a tweet from Cancun Challenge on July 23, 2025.

In their previous season, Columbia achieved a record of 24-7 overall and 13-1 in their league. They won their first outright Ivy League Regular Season Championship and secured an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for a second consecutive year. They defeated Washington with a score of 63-60 in the First Four, marking their first March Madness victory. The Lions also claimed victories over Atlantic Sun champion FGCU, MAC champion Ball State, and Princeton.

Fan packages for attending the event are available now through Fan Packages – Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya – Cancun Challenge.
