The Columbia women’s tennis team lost its first conference match of the season to Princeton on April 12, falling 4-2 at the Lenz Tennis Center. The defeat ends Columbia’s eight-match winning streak and brings their dual match record to 14-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

This loss is significant as it positions Princeton as the only undefeated team in Ivy League conference play this season. The Tigers now hold a record of 17-2 overall and are 5-0 within the conference.

Princeton took an early lead by securing the doubles point after wins from Tsehay Driscoll and Pearlie Zhang over Gayathri Krishnan and Sabrina Lin, as well as Bella Chhiv and Eva Elbaz defeating Amber Yin and Michelle Li. In singles matches, Madeleine Jessup defeated Margaret Hui, followed by Chhiv overcoming Emily Baek to give Princeton a commanding advantage.

Columbia narrowed the gap with victories from Amber Yin against Tsehay Driscoll (7-5, 6-4) and Michelle Li over Pearlie Zhang (2-6, 6-2, 6-0). However, Alice Ferlito clinched the win for Princeton by defeating Krishnan in straight sets on court one.

The Lions will next face Harvard in Cambridge on Saturday, April 18. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
