The Columbia women’s tennis team lost to Harvard 4-1 at the Beren Tennis Center on April 18, impacting their chances for an Ivy League title.

The result marks the first time this season that Columbia has dropped consecutive matches. The team previously lost to Princeton and now requires other results to go in their favor if they are to secure the Ivy League crown.

Harvard gained an early advantage by winning the doubles point, with Emily Baek and Sophia Wang securing a win for Columbia on court three. However, Harvard won on courts one and two in doubles. In singles play, Sophia Wang tied the match for Columbia with a straight-set victory over Kate Kim, but Harvard clinched wins on courts one, two, and five to secure the overall victory.

Columbia will conclude its regular season against Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire. The outcome of that match may determine their final standing within the league.
