Columbia women’s rowing will host Northeastern University and the University of Rhode Island on Saturday, followed by Brown University and Boston University on Sunday at Overpeck Park in Leonia, New Jersey, according to an April 10 announcement.

The weekend is highlighted by Columbia’s matchup with Northeastern for the Woodbury Cup on Saturday. The Lions have retained the Woodbury Cup for three consecutive seasons. Last year, Columbia narrowly defeated Northeastern by two seconds in the Varsity Eight race on the Charles River. The cup is named in memory of Melanie Woodbury, a former Columbia rower and team captain who graduated from Barnard College in 1996 and died in a car accident in 2002.

Columbia enters the weekend after sweeping all five races against Notre Dame and Navy last Saturday at Overpeck Park. In that competition, Columbia’s Varsity Eight finished first with a time of 7:10.17—13.9 seconds ahead of Notre Dame. The Second Varsity Eight (2V8) and Third Varsity Eight (3V8) also won their races with times of 7:24.87 and 7:45.91 respectively, while victories were also recorded by both Varsity Four crews.

Saturday’s racing schedule begins at 9:15 a.m., featuring six events concluding with the First Varsity Eight at 10:30 a.m. A round-trip fan bus will depart from campus at 8:15 a.m., returning at noon; parking will be managed by traffic officers at Overpeck Park. Race results will be available online following each day’s events.

Sunday’s schedule starts later in the morning with similar events running through noon.

Looking ahead, Columbia will compete next at Eastern Sprints on May 2 in Worcester, Massachusetts.
