Columbia University senior Nicolas Kotzen has been selected to represent Team USA at the 2025 Master’U BNP Paribas Championship, according to an announcement from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The event will take place in Reims, France, from December 5-7, and features eight national teams composed of top collegiate tennis players from around the world.

The Master’U BNP Paribas Championship is recognized as “The World Event of University Tennis” and is now in its 18th year. It brings together student-athletes from NCAA institutions and other university systems for several days of competition.

Kotzen’s selection marks the second consecutive year that a Columbia men’s tennis player will participate in this international tournament. Last season, Michael Zheng represented Columbia and contributed to Team USA’s gold medal win, which was their fifth straight victory at the event.

Joining Kotzen on Team USA are Samir Banerjee (Stanford), Reese Brantmeier (North Carolina), Valerie Glozman (Stanford), Aiden Kim (Ohio State), and Luciana Perry (Ohio State). The team will be coached by Alison Ojeda of Tennessee and Andrew Rueb of Harvard. Rueb returns for his second year as part of the coaching staff after helping lead Team USA to gold last year in France.

Tournament matches include two women’s singles matches, two men’s singles matches, one women’s doubles match, one men’s doubles match, and one mixed doubles match. The first country to win four out of seven matches advances in the tournament.

Information about live statistics and a complete list of players will be released in the coming weeks.
