Columbia University’s men’s basketball team secured a 75-65 win over Princeton on Saturday at Jadwin Gymnasium. The victory ended a 13-game losing streak against Princeton and marked Columbia’s first win at the venue since February 7, 2014.
Blair Thompson led Columbia with 14 points, shooting 6-for-8 from the field. Miles Franklin scored 12 points, Mason Ritter contributed 11, and Gerard O’Keefe added 10. The team finished with a shooting percentage of nearly 57 percent overall and made just under half their three-point attempts.
“My guys did a great job of finding me,” Thompson said postgame on ESPN+. “We really try to get good looks every time we come down and I felt we did a really good job of that.”
The game began with Columbia taking an early lead, but Princeton went ahead by one point at halftime after seven lead changes in the first period. Ritter had eight points in the opening half.
In the second half, Columbia built its advantage with an eight-point run that included key baskets from O’Keefe. Princeton narrowed the gap late in the game, but crucial plays by Connor Igoe and successful free throws by Ritter helped secure the result for Columbia.
Columbia now holds a record of 15 wins and nine losses overall this season, including four wins in Ivy League play. The team will return home to face Dartmouth next Saturday at 2 p.m.
