Columbia University has named Jourdan Roemer as an assistant coach for its lacrosse program, according to an announcement from Head Coach Anne Murray. Roemer joins the staff for the 2026 season and brings several years of collegiate coaching experience along with a strong record as a player.
“I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and next chapter in my coaching career with Columbia Lacrosse,” Roemer said. “I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running alongside such a passionate and talented staff, as well as a group of driven young women. I’m excited to grow, compete, and contribute to this University. Let’s go Lions!”
Roemer previously worked at Canisius College for four seasons, most recently as associate head coach. She is also a 2019 graduate of Canisius, where she became the school’s all-time scoring leader with 259 points. During her playing career, she was part of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship teams in 2016 and 2017.
Her achievements include being named MAAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 and earning three All-MAAC selections. She received first-team honors in both 2017 and 2018, concluding her collegiate playing career with second-team recognition in 2019.
“I am truly thrilled to be welcoming Jourdan to the Lions Lacrosse Family!” Murray said. “Her IQ, preparation, and belief in her athletes has set her apart on the sidelines. She will be working closely with our offensive and draw units and is ready to move the needle for this program. I am excited for all of us to be inspired by her passion, commitment and spark that will be contagious for all of us.”
Before returning to Canisius as a coach in 2022, Roemer served as an assistant at D’Youville College during the 2021 season. She also held a graduate assistant position in strength and conditioning at Ithaca College from 2019-20 while assisting with their women’s lacrosse team.
Roemer grew up in Irondequoit, New York. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Canisius (2019) in health and wellness and earned a master’s degree in exercise science from Ithaca College (2020).
