Columbia University’s field hockey team is set to play two matches this weekend, hosting Brown University on Friday at the Columbia Field Hockey Complex and traveling to face No. 19 Rutgers on Sunday.

Friday’s game against Brown will begin at 3 p.m. Fans can follow the action through live stats or watch the broadcast on ESPN+. Sunday’s away match against Rutgers, scheduled for 1 p.m., will be available via live stats and BTN+.

In their most recent outing, Columbia lost its Ivy League opener to Cornell with a score of 5-2. The Lions trailed by four goals after the first quarter but managed to reduce the deficit when Jacinta Solari Etcheberry scored off a penalty corner in the third quarter, assisted by Sophia Abate. Cornell added another goal before Abate scored Columbia’s second goal in the fourth period.

So far this season, eight different players have contributed to Columbia’s total of 13 goals. Jacinta Solari Etcheberry leads with four goals, followed by Izzy Kaczor and Sophia Abate with two each. Mckenzie Bloom, Lizzie Adams, Ashley Kim, Maya Raphael, and Agustina Solari Etcheberry have each scored once.

Goalkeeper Margot Houle has started her career strongly, winning her first three starts and recording 29 saves this season. This places her second among Ivy League goalkeepers in saves. Houle also earned her first career shutout during the team’s season-opening win at No. 18 UAlbany.

Historically, Columbia holds a narrow edge over Brown with a record of 14-13 but has lost the last two meetings between the teams. Against Rutgers, Columbia is 3-7 all-time; Sunday’s match will be only their second meeting since 2012.

Looking ahead, Columbia will visit Dartmouth next Friday before returning home to host Hofstra for Alumni Day on Sunday.
