Columbia baseball will host Stony Brook on Wednesday, Apr. 21, at Robertson Field at Satow Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The game will also serve as Mental Health Awareness Day, focusing on the importance of mental wellness for student-athletes and the wider community.

The event is significant as it not only features a non-conference matchup but also highlights efforts to promote mental health awareness within collegiate athletics. Fans can follow the action through live stats or watch live on ESPN+.

In their previous outing, Columbia split a Saturday doubleheader against Brown. After losing the opener 6-1, they responded with an 11-2 win in game two—Brown’s largest conference loss this season. Thomas Santana pitched seven innings with six strikeouts and allowed just one run in that victory. Jackson Brewer and Jack Kail each hit home runs and drove in three runs apiece during the win. Sunday’s tiebreaker was postponed due to weather, with no makeup date announced yet.

This upcoming contest marks the 13th meeting between Columbia and Stony Brook, with Stony Brook holding an 8-4 advantage in their all-time series. Columbia won their most recent matchup last year by a score of 6-3 at Stony Brook.

Several players have stood out this season for Columbia. Senior Jack Kail ranks fourth nationally in fewest strikeouts per at-bat and leads the Ivy League in doubles while batting .355 overall. He recently tied for fifth-most career RBI in program history after driving in three runs against Brown last weekend. Sophomore Jackson Brewer returned to form last series by going 3-for-5 with three RBI including a home run; he currently has five home runs on the season.

Looking ahead, Columbia will host Yale over the weekend for a three-game Ivy League series starting Saturday morning. Senior Day celebrations are planned for Sunday to honor Jack Kail, Thomas Santana, Cole Fellows, and Evan Kleinhans for their contributions to the program.
