Jazz Chisholm Jr. delivered a standout performance on April 25, driving in four runs and scoring three times to help the New York Yankees secure a 12-4 victory over the Houston Astros. The win marks the Yankees’ seventh consecutive victory and extends their record to 17-9, currently the best in the American League.
Chisholm’s resurgence at the plate has been notable, with multiple hits in three of his last four games. He contributed a two-run single in the first inning and added a solo home run and another RBI single later in the game, finishing with three hits and a walk. “I feel like me again,” Chisholm said after the game. “It feels good to know that when you swing the bat, you know you’re going to make good contact and hit it off the barrel.”
The second baseman recently made adjustments to his batting stance after reviewing video from last season, where he achieved a rare 30-home run, 30-stolen base campaign for New York. Reflecting on these changes, Chisholm said: “I really looked at my video last year… [My stance] wasn’t as closed off [as last year], but you’ve got to start somewhere.” Manager Aaron Boone also observed improvements: “I feel like along the way over the last few weeks, there’s been a day where he’s started to see like, ‘OK, there he is,’ and then he’d fall back for a day or two. But now [it’s] back-to-back days where he’s had some really good swings.”
The Yankees’ offense was further supported by home runs from Ryan McMahon, Ben Rice and José Caballero among their total of 13 hits. Pitcher Will Warren improved his record to 3-0 after allowing two runs across six innings while striking out six batters.
Chisholm emphasized how team success contributes to individual confidence: “It makes it feel much better going up there yourself when your whole team is out there and you all believe that every time somebody goes in the box, everybody’s going to get a hit… You always say hitting is contagious.” Despite striking out once late in the game—a moment he shared lightheartedly with teammates—Chisholm remains focused on achieving another strong season: “The season just started. We’re not even a full month in… [30-30] is just normal.”
