The City College of New York women’s soccer team secured a place in the CUNYAC Championship after defeating Brooklyn College 2–0 in the semifinal match held on Saturday in Brooklyn, NY.

The first half remained scoreless as both teams struggled to find an opening. The deadlock was broken in the 66th minute when freshman Marjorie Placencia scored her fourth goal of the season, putting CCNY ahead. Later, in the 78th minute, freshman Sara Dos Santos added another goal, finishing a through ball from junior Sara Rodriguez to solidify the lead.

CCNY’s defense limited Brooklyn College’s chances throughout the game. Senior goalkeeper Laila Issa contributed with three important saves and helped secure a shutout for her team.

Placencia and Dos Santos each scored for CCNY, while Rodriguez provided an assist. The Beavers took 10 shots in total, with six on target, and maintained control of possession during much of the second half.

With this victory, CCNY will advance to face John Jay College in the CUNYAC Championship scheduled for Saturday, November 8th.
