CCNY women’s basketball secures road win over Pratt Institute

The City College of New York (CCNY) women’s basketball team earned its second consecutive victory on Wednesday night, defeating Pratt Institute 59–55 at the ARC in Brooklyn. This win brings the Beavers’ season record to 2–5, while Pratt falls to 1–6.

CCNY took an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 20–17 and widening the gap by outscoring Pratt 18–6 in the second quarter. At halftime, CCNY held a double-digit advantage. In the second half, Pratt attempted a comeback with a strong third and fourth quarter, but CCNY maintained its edge through defense and key baskets in critical moments.

Freshman Blessings Joseph-Pascall led CCNY with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and seven steals while playing all 40 minutes. Junior Ashley Colon contributed 16 points and made three three-pointers. Senior Joscelyn Ramos added 12 points. Sophomore Ashley Subervi recorded ten rebounds and six points, while Amanda Fisher provided eight rebounds off the bench.

CCNY scored effectively off turnovers with 19 points and generated 17 fast-break points. The Beavers also controlled play inside with 28 points in the paint and finished with a total of 42 rebounds. For Pratt Institute, Kylie Grant posted a double-double with 20 points and 20 rebounds; Anabela Jakelic had similar numbers with 17 points and 20 rebounds.

The Beavers will next begin CUNY Athletic Conference play against Brooklyn on Friday, December 5 at 5:00 p.m.
