The City College of New York (CCNY) women’s basketball team lost to John Jay College 81–36 in a CUNY Athletic Conference matchup on Friday afternoon at the Doghouse. The defeat brings CCNY’s season record to 6–16 overall and 4–9 in conference play.

John Jay established control early through strong rebounding and effective interior scoring, building an early lead. While CCNY kept the game close in the opening minutes, offensive challenges increased as the contest continued. John Jay outscored CCNY 30–8 in the third quarter, widening their advantage.

CCNY finished with a field goal percentage of 17.6% (12-of-68) and managed only 10 points in the paint. Freshman Blessings Joseph-Pascall led her team with 12 points and nine rebounds, while junior Ashley Colon contributed eight points. Despite collecting 39 rebounds, CCNY struggled with turnovers and missed opportunities that hindered their efforts to mount a comeback.

John Jay dominated inside play, scoring 56 points in the paint and outrebounding CCNY by a margin of 69–39. Natalie Simonds led all players with 24 points on efficient shooting (9-of-15), while Michaela Lattimore added a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. The Bloodhounds also made use of second-chance opportunities, scoring 25 points from offensive rebounds.

Looking ahead, CCNY aims to regroup for upcoming conference games as they seek to finish their season on a positive note and build momentum for postseason competition.
