CCNY men’s track and field team competes at Rutgers Relays

The City College of New York men’s track and field team participated in the Rutgers Relays, with notable performances in sprints and relays, according to an April 15 announcement.

The event brought together a strong field of regional teams, providing CCNY athletes with the opportunity to test themselves against tough competition. The meet served as a benchmark for the team’s progress during the outdoor season.

Freshman Mustapha Abubakar led CCNY in the 100 meters, finishing 11th overall with a time of 10.81 seconds. Jonathan Patterson also competed in the same event, recording a time of 11.22 seconds. In middle-distance action, Michael Abayev completed the 800 meters in 2:02.23.

Antonio Oliveira-Nurse was CCNY’s top finisher in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.36, followed by Daniel Gonzalez at 1:14.62 and Muniru Abdulai at 1:18.35.

In relay events, CCNY’s A squad—composed of Abubakar, Patterson, Justice Omoruyi, and Abdulai—secured third place in the 4×200 relay with a time of 1:38.81. The B squad finished fourth at 1:55.37 with Oliveira-Nurse, Mihir Kapoor, Dontay Mobley, and Gonzalez running for CCNY. The Beavers also posted an eighth-place finish in the 4×100 relay with a time of 44.99 seconds.

Matthew Zboinski led CCNY’s efforts in field events by throwing javelin for a mark of 36.29 meters.

The Beavers are scheduled to compete next on Saturday, April 18 at the Rider Invitational.
