The City College of New York baseball team won against St. Joseph’s University Brooklyn, 16–6, on Apr. 17 at Flowers Park in New Rochelle.

The game was significant as it marked Senior Day for CCNY, with the program honoring seniors John Spallin, Alexander Rozon, Eric Marmolejos, Rich Cirigliano, and Erik Rank for their contributions.

CCNY made a strong statement early by scoring 13 runs in the first inning after trailing by two runs. The rally included key hits from several players and aggressive baserunning that set the tone for the rest of the game. Demetri Zirogiannis contributed to the offensive surge by stealing home during this inning.

Throughout the game, CCNY continued to add to its lead with additional runs in later innings. The Beavers collected a total of 14 hits and drew 11 walks. Rank led offensively with three hits and two runs batted in; Spallin scored three times and had two hits; Molinaro and Persampire each had two hits; Cirigliano drove in three runs including a bases-clearing triple.

Pitcher Samuel Puttock earned the win after five innings pitched with only two runs allowed and five strikeouts. Relief pitchers Noel Vasquez and Colton Bausenwein helped secure the victory despite a brief four-run rally from St. Joseph’s in the sixth inning.

With this result, CCNY improved its season record to eight wins and fifteen losses overall. The team is scheduled to play next against John Jay College at Flowers Park on Saturday.
