For the fourth year in a row, the City College of New York (CCNY) baseball team has received the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award. The recognition, presented by Sports Attack, is given to high school and college programs whose coaches are ABCA members and whose teams maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the academic year.
The CCNY Beavers recorded a collective team GPA of 3.33 for the 2024–25 academic year. Eighteen student-athletes achieved a GPA of at least 3.0, with thirteen posting 3.2 or above and six exceeding 3.5. CCNY was among only 181 NCAA Division III programs to earn this award and was the sole representative from the CUNY Athletic Conference.
“Presented by Sports Attack, the prestigious award honors nearly 800 high school and college programs nationwide whose coaches are ABCA members and who achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale over the academic year,” according to the association’s announcement.
The team’s academic success coincided with its achievements on the field. In the 2025 season, CCNY won its third consecutive CUNYAC Regular Season title and reached the CUNYAC Championship Series for the fourth straight year.
