Bingxiang Qin leads Columbia swimmers at Boston Winter Open ahead of Ivy Championships

The Columbia men’s swimming and diving team competed at the Boston Winter Open, achieving several notable results as they prepare for the upcoming Ivy League Championships. Bingxiang Qin led the team with a first-place finish in the 400 individual medley, clocking a time of 3:58.90.

Ryan Pak contributed to the team’s performance by finishing second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 55.69 and securing a top-four spot in the 200 individual medley. In sprint events, Michael Zhang placed eighth in the 50 freestyle and participated as the lead swimmer in the 400 freestyle relay. Dylan Dettloff also performed well in the 200 freestyle event.

The relay team consisting of Zhang, Qin, Dettloff, and Pak ended their meet with a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay, posting a time of 3:07.94.

In diving events held at the Rutgers Platform Invitational, Will Cooley finished third with a score of 340.10. Mackenzie Lu achieved his first NCAA Zone qualifying score by earning fifth place with a score of 305.15.

The team will now focus on preparing for the Ivy League Championships scheduled to begin February 25 in Princeton.
