New York City FC forward Alonso Martínez has been named MLS Player of the Matchday for Matchday 27, following his performance against FC Dallas. Martínez scored three goals, helping NYCFC secure a 4-3 victory after coming from behind twice.

Martínez, who represents Costa Rica internationally, now has 12 goals and one assist this season. He leads New York City FC in scoring and is second on the team with 13 total goal contributions.

This match marked Martínez’s first multi-goal game of the season and his second career hat trick in Major League Soccer. He joins Valentín “Taty” Castellanos as the only players in club history to record multiple regular-season hat tricks.
