Semen Agynskyy and Adam Groves have been named the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, according to an announcement by the conference on Monday.

The St. John’s Red Storm Men’s Tennis duo achieved a 3-0 record during the week, securing wins against pairs from Adelphi, Binghamton, and VCU. These victories contributed to three team wins for St. John’s.

This is the second time Agynskyy and Groves have received this recognition as a pair, and it marks the third such honor in Agynskyy’s career. For Groves, this is his fourth career weekly award and his second of the 2026 season. After their latest victories, they improved their doubles record to 5-0 this season.

During a doubleheader on February 18, Agynskyy and Groves defeated Adelphi’s Leo Silverstein and Spyridon Papageorgiou with a 6-4 score in their first match. They then beat Binghamton’s Andrew Fang and Ronin Lotlikar 6-2 in the afternoon session.

Later that week on Friday, they continued their run by winning against VCU’s Patrik Petera and Kostiantyn Mantach with a convincing 6-1 result. These performances helped St. John’s Red Storm Men’s Tennis reach a 6-1 start to its season.

St. John’s Red Storm Men’s Tennis competes in NCAA Division I athletics within the Big East Conference according to its official website. The program represents St. John’s University and participates in intercollegiate tennis competitions.

The team will next play against Cleveland State at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion in Ohio on Friday, with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m.
