Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district, has recently made several statements on social media addressing the release of Epstein-related files and responding to a shooting at Brown University.

Two days later, following an incident at Brown University, Espaillat expressed his condolences in English: “We are praying for the families of the victims following the tragedy at @BrownUniversity and embrace each of the students and all who have been impacted by this senseless act of gun violence.” He reiterated his message in Spanish shortly after: “Estamos orando por las familias de las víctimas tras la tragedia ocurrida en @BrownUniversity y abrazamos a cada uno de los estudiantes y a todas las personas que han sido afectadas por este acto de violencia con arma de fuego sin sentido.”

Espaillat has served in Congress since 2017, succeeding Charles Rangel. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he was a member of both the New York State Assembly and Senate. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954, Espaillat resides in Manhattan and graduated from Queens College, City University of New York with a BA.
