On April 21, 2025, Espaillat tweeted about his participation in the New York Restoration Project, where he planted a tree in preparation for Earth Day. He stated, “Me enorgulleció unirme al Proyecto de Restauración de Nueva York para plantar un árbol mientras nos preparamos para el Día de la Tierra mañana. Cada árbol es un compromiso: por un aire más limpio, calles más frescas y un futuro más verde para nuestras comunidades. Sigamos”.

Continuing his focus on Earth Day, Espaillat made another post on April 22, 2025, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship and encouraging collective efforts to protect the planet. He wrote, “This Earth Day, let’s recommit to protecting our planet—for our health, our communities, and future generations. Every action counts. Here’s how I’m doing my part in Congress “.

On the same day, he acknowledged the contributions of environmental advocate Cecil Corbin Mark by sharing a resolution that recognizes Mark’s impactful work. Espaillat’s tweet read, “A resolution recognizing the impactful work of Cecil Corbin Mark.”

Espaillat, born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954, has served in the U.S. Congress since 2017, following his time in the New York State Assembly and Senate. He continues to reside in Manhattan and is actively involved in legislative activities to support environmental and community well-being.
