Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district since 2017, used his social media platform on December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026, to reflect on the legacy of baseball icon Roberto Clemente and to express gratitude to his constituents as the year ended.
On December 31, Espaillat wrote in English: “Today, we pause to reflect on the life and impact of baseball legend Roberto Clemente.
I am proud to have introduced federal legislation, the Roberto Clemente Commemorative Coin Act, to recognize his humanitarian efforts, athletic skills and talent, and his legacy of service, https://t.co/eq90KTaBpS“
As the new year approached on January 1st, Espaillat addressed his followers with a message of thanks: “As we close out the year, I want to thank you for your continued trust and partnership. Our work together has strengthened our district and prepared us for the opportunities ahead. Wishing you a safe and hopeful New Year’s Eve.”
Espaillat has represented New York’s 13th District in Congress since succeeding Charles Rangel in 2017. He previously served in both chambers of New York’s state legislature—from the Assembly (1997-2010) to the Senate (2011-2016). Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently residing in Manhattan at age 68, Espaillat graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York with a bachelor’s degree in 1978.
