Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district since 2017, recently addressed former President Donald Trump in a series of posts on his official Twitter account. The tweets questioned Trump’s statements regarding Jeffrey Epstein and promoted the Congressional App Challenge for students.

On July 29, 2025, Espaillat posted: “So first, you said you threw Epstein out because he was “a creep.” Now you’re saying it’s because he “took people.”

Which one is it, Donald? https://t.co/v1P4Eb5kGV“.

Later that day, Espaillat followed up with a Spanish-language post: “Entonces primero, dijiste que echaste a Epstein porque era ‘un degenerado’. Ahora estás diciendo que es porque ‘te robó empleados’.

¿Cuál de las dos es, Donald?”.

On July 30, 2025, Espaillat shifted focus to announce an opportunity for students interested in technology: “#NY13: Calling all coders!

Today marks the official start of the 10th year of the Congressional App Challenge.

If you’re a student into app design, registration is now open! Any project coded after Oct. 24, 2024 and before Oct. 30, 2025 is eligible.

Espaillat has served in Congress since replacing Charles Rangel in 2017 and previously held positions in both the New York State Assembly and Senate. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently residing in Manhattan at age 68, Espaillat graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York with a BA in 1978.
