Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district, posted a series of messages on July 30, 2025, highlighting the start of the Congressional App Challenge and emphasizing congressional oversight responsibilities regarding Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In his first post at 15:54 UTC, Espaillat announced the launch of a technology competition for students in his district: “#NY13: ¡Llamamos a todos los programadores! Later that day, Espaillat addressed congressional oversight duties related to ICE. At 17:43 UTC he stated: “Congressional oversight of ICE is not just our duty, it’s our right. This administration must be held accountable.”

Espaillat has served as U.S. Representative for New York’s 13th District since 2017 after succeeding Charles Rangel. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1997 to 2010 and served in the New York State Senate from 2011 to 2016. He was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently resides in Manhattan. Espaillat graduated from Queens College, City University of New York in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree.
