Adriano Espaillat, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district since 2017, posted several messages on April 10, 2026, including tributes to the late former Congressman Eliot Engel and an event invitation.
In one post from April 10, Espaillat shared an RSVP link: “RSVP Here: https://t.co/yzk8HKlY2S”.
Later that day, he expressed condolences regarding the death of Eliot Engel. On April 10 at 21:47 UTC, Espaillat wrote: “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Congressman Eliot Engel, who I had the privilege to know as a friend and peer.
Eliot was a giant of New York public service, whose three decades of leadership have left an indelible mark across Bronx and Westchester https://t.co/8eCZBJEM9X“.
Espaillat also posted in Spanish later that evening: “Me entristece profundamente enterarme del fallecimiento del excongresista Eliot Engel, a quien tuve el privilegio de conocer como amigo y colega.
Eliot fue un gigante del servicio público de Nueva York, cuyas tres décadas de liderazgo han dejado una huella imborrable en las”.
Espaillat has been active in public service for decades. Before joining Congress in 2017 after replacing Charles Rangel, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1997 to 2010 and in the State Senate from 2011 to 2016. He was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently resides in Manhattan. Espaillat graduated with a BA from Queens College at City University of New York in 1978.
