Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district since 2017, posted several updates on his official Twitter account on August 7, 2025. The tweets included a condolence message to former baseball player David Ortiz and information about constituent services offered by his office.

In a post published at 14:24 UTC, Espaillat wrote: “Deseo expresar mi más sinceras condolencias a @davidortiz, “Big Papi”, y a toda su familia por el fallecimiento de su padre, el señor Américo Ortiz, cariñosamente conocido como Leo.

Espaillat has represented New York’s 13th district in Congress since succeeding Charles Rangel in 2017 and previously served in both the New York State Assembly and Senate. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently residing in Manhattan, Espaillat graduated from Queens College (City University of New York) with a BA in 1978.
