Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district since 2017, used his social media platform to honor American workers and a fellow lawmaker in a series of posts on September 1 and 2, 2025.

On September 1, Espaillat marked Labor Day by stating: “Today we celebrate the workers who built this country and keep it moving forward. On Labor Day we honor their contributions, stand with organized labor, and recommit to fighting for fair wages, safe workplaces, and dignity on the job.”

The following day, he shared a similar message in Spanish: “Hoy celebramos a los trabajadores que construyeron este país y lo impulsan hacia adelante. En el Día del Trabajo, honramos sus contribuciones, apoyamos a los sindicatos y renovamos nuestro compromiso de luchar por salarios justos, lugares de trabajo seguros y dignidad laboral.” (September 2).

Later on September 2, Espaillat recognized the service of another member of Congress: “For more than three decades, Congressman Jerry Nadler has served as a champion of New Yorkers and stalwart defender of civil liberties and the rule of law for the American people. His leadership on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and notably his stewardship”.

Espaillat’s career in public service began before his tenure in Congress; he previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1997 to 2010 and in the State Senate from 2011 to 2016. He was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently resides in Manhattan. Espaillat is an alumnus of Queens College at City University of New York.
