Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district since 2017, posted a series of tweets in early February 2026 addressing both community engagement and concerns about racism.

On February 5, Espaillat shared an invitation to the public, stating: “Click here to RSVP:

The following day, he extended another invitation in Spanish for a “Know Your Rights” event: “Haz clic aquí para confirmar tu asistencia a nuestro evento de ‘Conozca Sus Derechos’:

Later that day, Espaillat addressed an incident he described as racist and called for action from his colleagues: “A racist will do racist things regardless of the house in which they live.

I am calling on my Republican colleagues to denounce this blatantly racist act. https://t.co/Vt1WwgSR24” (February 6).

Espaillat has served in Congress since succeeding Charles Rangel in 2017. He previously held positions in the New York State Assembly from 1997 to 2010 and the New York State Senate from 2011 to 2016. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954, Espaillat resides in Manhattan and graduated with a BA from Queens College, City University of New York in 1978.
