Adriano Espaillat, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district, has recently shared several tweets in celebration of Women’s History Month. Espaillat has been serving in Congress since 2017 and previously held positions in the New York State Assembly and Senate. His social media posts highlight significant contributions by women leaders and workers.

On March 18, 2025, Espaillat posted about Randi Weingarten, stating: “This Women’s History Month, we honor and highlight Randi Weingarten, a national labor leader, attorney, and educator. She has served as president of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) since 2008 and has been a staunch advocate supporting the educational needs for students,…” This message underscores Weingarten’s long-standing role as an advocate for education.

Later that day, on March 18, he tweeted his appreciation for local community workers: “Celebrating the incredible women crossing guards of NY-13 this Women’s History Month! Your hard work and dedication keep our community safe, and we’re grateful for all you do. Thank you for being everyday heroes!” This post acknowledges the essential service provided by crossing guards in his district.

Additionally, on March 18, Espaillat reiterated his recognition of Randi Weingarten with a tweet in Spanish: “En este Mes de la Historia de la Mujer, honramos y destacamos a Randi Weingarten, líder sindical nacional, abogada y educadora. Ha sido presidenta de la Federación Estadounidense de Maestros (AFT) desde 2008 y ha sido una firme luchadora para que se atiendan las necesidades…” Through this bilingual communication approach, Espaillat reaches out to a broader audience within his diverse constituency.
