Adriano Espaillat, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 13th district, has shared his thoughts on recent occasions via social media. Espaillat, who took over from Charles Rangel in 2017, highlighted the significance of Mother’s Day and paid tribute to individuals involved in the January 6th events at the Capitol.
On May 13, 2025, Espaillat expressed his appreciation for mothers in his district with a tweet stating: “Everyday is Mother’s Day in my district. I’m proud to celebrate the extraordinary mothers in the Bronx who help our communities thrive.”
Later that day, he reiterated this sentiment in Spanish to reach a broader audience within his constituency: “Todos los dÃas es el DÃa de las Madres en mi distrito. Me enorgullece celebrar a las extraordinarias madres de El Bronx que ayudan a nuestras comunidades a prosperar.”
In another post on May 13, Espaillat addressed the need to recognize those who defended democracy during the January 6th Capitol incident. He urged House Speaker Mike Johnson to take action: “It’s past time to honor the heroes who defended our democracy and nation on January 6th. @SpeakerJohnson, I will put up the plaque myself if I have to. Let’s honor them without further delay.”
Adriano Espaillat has been serving as a representative since replacing Charles Rangel and had previous tenures in both New York State Assembly and Senate. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, he holds a BA from Queens College and resides in Manhattan.
