U.S. Congressman Adriano Espaillat, who represents New York’s 13th district, shared several updates and opinions on August 18, 2025, through his official social media account.

In a post made at 16:05 UTC, Espaillat highlighted the economic benefits of a major infrastructure initiative in his district: “This advancement of the Second Avenue Subway project will bring good paying jobs to the communities of Harlem and East Harlem, which I am proud to have fought for, and ensures that this critical project remains on strong trajectory towards completion. I commend Governor Hochul,” he wrote.

Later that day, at 18:44 UTC, Espaillat addressed national politics and military policy. He criticized former President Donald Trump by stating: “The cost of war is serious and it is absolutely disgusting for Donald Trump to float the idea of it for his own personal political gain.”

At 19:02 UTC on the same day, Espaillat expressed appreciation for his constituency with the message: “Out of 435 districts across the nation, I have the honor and privilege of serving the best one there is: the 13th district of New York. Thanks for another great weekend with a great community!”

Espaillat has represented New York’s 13th congressional district since 2017 after succeeding Charles Rangel. Prior to his current role in Congress, he served in both the New York State Assembly from 1997 to 2010 and in the New York State Senate from 2011 to 2016. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954, Espaillat has lived in Manhattan for many years and graduated from Queens College (City University of New York) in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
