Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district and a native of Santiago, Dominican Republic, posted several statements on his social media accounts in late July 2025. His messages addressed both the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the contributions of the Dominican American community to New York City and the United States.
On July 26, 2025, Espaillat published a statement regarding international affairs: “Mi declaración sobre la crisis humanitaria en Gaza:”
Over the weekend of July 28, Espaillat turned his attention to domestic issues, highlighting the achievements of Dominican Americans. In an English-language post dated July 28, he wrote: “This weekend, we recognized the significant contributions and lasting impact of the Dominican American community on New York City and our nation.

Espaillat has represented New York’s 13th District in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Charles Rangel. Before his congressional tenure, he served in both chambers of the New York State Legislature from 1997 through 2016. Born in Santiago in 1954 and currently residing in Manhattan at age 68, Espaillat is also an alumnus of Queens College at City University of New York.
